| Tips
to Know |
|
Written
Translation -
Translation of written
words. This is more than
a swapping of words or
converting a phrase from
one language to another.
It is more important is
to use the style of expression
and technical terms based
on the connotation and
nature of source text.
|
Consecutive
Interpreting
- Consecutive interpreting
implies pauses in a speaker's
speech for an interpreter
to interpret the spoken
piece. This method is
best for language needs
in foreign affairs and
business negotiations.
No supporting facilities
are required for consecutive
interpreting and the speakers
from both parties are
given time to think during
the interpreting, yet,
the interpretation alone
will prolong the time
of the meeting.
|
Simultaneous
Interpreting
- Simultaneous interpreting
is a method most commonly
used at presentations,
meetings and international
conferences when an interpreter
interprets for a speaker
simultaneously with specialized
interpreting equipment.
The interpreting is normally
done by two interpreters
in turn through a microphone
and received by the audience
through earphones. It
will significantly enhance
the efficiency of the
meeting because the speaker
does not need to leave
time for the interpreting.
However, to give simultaneous
interpreting, specialized
equipment is required
and the interpreter must
be highly qualified. |
